A Glimpse into Matt’s BBQ Tacos
Walking into Great Notion Brewing you would not expect to find Matt’s BBQ tucked away. What gives it away? The smell of the BBQ. It hits you right in the nose and in a very good way. I immediately started to wonder how quickly I could get that food into my mouth. Make no mistake, it is going to happen but first we need to grab a beer. Great Notion has a ton of options for beers, but we went with a nice sour.
The Food
The name of the restaurant says it all - BBQ Tacos. And let me say, the tacos will not disappoint you! Keep in mind, these tacos are pretty big so come with an empty stomach and ready to eat. You’re going to want to try more than one. I promise.
BBQ Brisket Taco: I can’t say enough good things about this. Well, one thing. I really wish I had ordered two. The brisket was incredibly tender, slathered in sauce, the tortilla was soft and chewy, the pickled onions were sweet, sour, acidic. It had all of the flavors you could want. Absolutely order this.
Pork Belly Taco: The fatty pork belly, the sweet barbeque sauce, the tangy onions, the soft tortilla. It just WORKS. If you are not a fan of fatty meats, you may not enjoy the pork belly as much as the brisket. But, if you love pork, this is going to blow your mind.
The GOAT: Brisket AND Pork Belly? Yes please. This one also came with guacamole to amp up the flavor even more. Pair this with some salsa’s and you are in heaven. If you ONLY get one taco here, get this one.
Waffle Fries: House made waffle fries that are fried in beef fat. There should be no other way to eat these. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, seasoned well with salt and served with house ketchup. Snag an order of these for the table.
Special Mention: The house made salsa’s are all really great. Snag some for the table and make sure to try the tacos with no salsas, then a bite of each taco with different salsas. It’s like an adventure for your mouth.
The Price
Six Ttcos with the waffle fries was about $50 before tip. It was not super cheap but it was delicious and it was incredibly filling.
